To recognize and commend volunteers who have made an exemplary contribution to their community
Volunteer Mobile is pleased to announce that the nominees are in for the Heart of Gold Awards for outstanding volunteer service in 2007.Each year during National Volunteer Week, Volunteer Mobile coordinates a luncheon to honor local citizens who share their lives to help others.Local agencies, schools, organizations, businesses, and individuals are asked to nominate outstanding volunteers to be recognized. Over 40 local volunteers were nominated for their outstanding efforts in volunteering during the past year. A panel of local judges reads the nomination forms and selects an outstanding volunteer in the categories of Education, Health and Welfare, Culture and Arts, and Civic Betterment.Also, an Outstanding Youth Volunteer (high school student, 19 and under) and a Group (youth and adult) that has made a significant difference through service recieve recognition for their efforts. All nominees were recognized and the winners were announced at the Heart ofGold Luncheon, at 12:00pm on Thursday, May 1, 2008 at The Country Club of Mobile.
