J.D. Crowe with his bus seat depicting Dr. King
Volunteer Mobile is inviting artists to submit a letter of interest for designing a bus seat to be included in its Seats for Social Change art installation. Three seats were unveiled in January and were displayed at Mobile Arts Council Gallery
during the month of February.

The installation will be exhibited during Volunteer Mobile’s King Day of Service 2009 and throughout the year in local schools and businesses. Artists will be credited in all media and on Volunteer Mobile’s website. Designs should convey a message of civic engagement, civil rights, freedom, volunteering or community service. Email design proposals to Krista Kearney at kkearney@volunteermobile.org. Volunteer Mobile will provide artists with bus seats.

The project was created at Hands On Atlanta, another Hands On Network/ Points of Light Foundation affiliate, to raise awareness of the messages of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
